Wanderburg Bosses Guide
What we can confirm about bosses in Wanderburg, the stronghold progression, and how to fight them.
Each map leads you through a gauntlet of strongholds. Destroying them ranks up your castle and opens what you can devour next. The official game description frames bosses/strongholds as the core combat goal of a run.
Confirmed boss structure
- Four-boss gauntlet per map — the map's stronghold path escalates to its final fortress (community reports; structure verified across multiple reports).
- Castle rank-up — your castle grows and ranks up after each stronghold you destroy.
- Not devourable — bosses, cities, harvesters and mortar towers cannot be eaten; destroy them with weapons.
- Fourth-boss pressure — the final stronghold of a map is the deadliest; community guides recommend holding Nitro/boost for this fight.
Known boss tactics (community-sourced)
- Circle strongholds with side-mounted damage so fire is continuous while you keep moving.
- Clear add groups first when the gauntlet spawns waves — the castle's size makes you a big target.
- Keep a rear defence (mines or rear turret) so pursuit doesn't shred your back arc.
- Save boost for repositioning; overlapping damage fields (e.g. the Dark Tower area attack) punish standing still.
Current-build notes
Patch 0.9.7 changed boss-related balance (Front Barrack damage example), and hotfixes through 0.9.8 touched enemy behaviour and performance. Boss behaviours should be retested after each update; this page is verified against build 0.9.8 unless marked.
